Follow in the footsteps of the brave men of the Royal Naval Air Service, who defended Great Britain from attack by German Zeppelin airships throughout World War One.
Airborne from Yarmouth Heliport, your hugely-experienced instructor will teach you how to fly your Tiger Moth open-cockpit biplane on the way to Hickling Broad, which was used to land naval seaplanes when the North Sea was too rough to land on. From there, you'll head east to the coast, which we have christened 'Zeppelin Alley', as many of the attackers are known to have coasted in or out along this stretch of coastline.
Tracking South, you'll head inland to Burgh Castle, used as a 'night landing' satellite to Yarmouth Naval Air Station at South Denes, which was an important centre for the Air Defence of Great Britain throughout the First World War, and which marks the final turning point of your tour.
Enjoy the view of Great Yarmouth's seafront as you fly yourself back to the grass airfield, where your instructor will demonstrate a loop or a barrel roll before landing, but only if you'd like that!
